ABOUT
Ambas was established in Rome in 2002. In 2004, the first beachwear collection was introduced with a strong emphasis on fabric, centred around organic cotton gauze—a simple yet delicate material. The appeal of gauze lies in its lightness, transparency, and the gentle touch of a natural fabric that has been woven and dyed throughout the East and Mediterranean for centuries.
The collection draws inspiration from the effortless elegance and understated style of Jacqueline and Lee Bouvier in the 1960s, a period when fashion embraced femininity, simplicity, and refinement. The versatility of cotton gauze later inspired the introduction of cashmere gauze shawls—feather-light yet remarkably warm.
Today, both fabrics are woven and dyed exclusively for Ambas, offering new interpretations season after season. The collection has also expanded to include Italian-made swimsuits crafted from soft, velvety Lycra, combining comfort with a subtle sense of glamour and timeless chic.
